Time for the Chop?

I think I go through a phase of wanting to cut my hair short every winter (crazy as it's probably the time of year when you'd want long locks to keep you warm). This winter, however, I'm feeling even more and more tempted to chop the locks. And there are a few reasons for this:
  1.  I have very fine hair and for some reason it knots like hell, even without moving it will suddenly become a nest and it literally takes me an hour to brush it every morning with the use of a million detanglers/leave-in conditioners and oils. So, in the winter time when I'm constantly wearing coats and scarves the problem seems to double. Therefore, the idea of short fuss-free hair sounds like absolute heaven
  2. The bob/lob trend seems to have come in with all guns blazing this winter. I've seen so many celebrities ditching their long locks for a shorter style, and it looks so sophisticated and fresh. But for me llymlrs has to be the one who is influencing me the most, who is pretty famous for her blonde locks and, in my eyes, was one of the first people to have ombre/dip-die hair which was clearly a massive trend. Her new do makes such a massive difference and completely mixes up her style.
  3. Having a new grown-up look may be good for me this year as I'm graduating from uni and so will (hopefully) have some job interviews.
Here are photo ideas that I have put in my 'hair inspiration' board on pinterest

You see, the only thing stopping me is that I've been growing my hair for the past 5 years because when I was 15 I gave into temptation took over and I did cut my hair short...a bit too short to be honest.

Before

 After

It's only just grown back to the length it was before, and I love it.

So, to chop or to not? That is the question....

I think for now I'm going to keep growing it. My hair is in pretty good condition so it will be a shame to go. Maybe once I get a job I'll cut it, but for now I'm going to enjoy the length and enjoy what I can do with it.

What do you think? Are you considering a new style for the new year?

Outfit #2

Quilted top - Topshop (here)
Jeans - Topshop (here)
Heeled chelsea boots - Topshop (similar here)

A very casual outfit today as I am just mulling around the house trying to do anything apart from coursework. I went shopping to Blackpool the other day and picked up this top and jeans along with a few other things (oops!) so I'll blog the other things I bought and maybe the things I got for Christmas over the next week.

If anyone would like to help me out a bit by filling out my survey for my final project it will be much appreciated. The link to it is here.

This won't be my usual background for outfit posts. I'm currently at my boyfriends mums house, following a very lovely NYE here, and there aren't many places with a plain background with good lighting but I will be back to my home in the Midlands for a few outfit posts this week, and then back to Manchester next week.

Let me know what you think in the comments below. Don't forget to link me to your blog.

Happy New Year 2014

Only a couple of days late but I wish everyone has a healthy and happy new year.

Just a few resolutions this year for me. I don't really tend to stick to resolutions for very long (who does?) but I've tried to make this years ones more simple and more about this blog and self improvement rather than the norm 'get fit', 'quit sweets/chocolate', etc. So, this year I have gone for:

  1. Stop letting what you think other people think about you affect the things you do.
  2. Be more adventurous with beauty products
  3. Try to not get too stressed out about small things, and not let stress affect how you live
  4. Blog more!
This is going to be such a big year for me. I will be finishing university in May and so will (hopefully!!) have a job by the end of this year. That will mean moving out of Manchester to a new city (most likely London) and finding a flat. However, this may mean that Mike (the boyfriend) and I may have to live apart...but fingers crossed we are able to get a job reasonably near each other so that we can live together. So crazy thinking I'll be finishing education in 6 months and starting off my life and career. Crazy but extremely exciting. (I can't wait to buy a new kettle and toaster for my flat)

What are your resolutions? What is coming up for you this year? Leave a link in the comments to your blog.

Next post will be an outfit post. Hopefully I'll get it up tomorrow.
